The primary function of the church choir at Longcauseway is to lead the singing during Sunday morning worship at church. On special occasions such as church anniversary this might also include singing an anthem. At Christmas the choir takes part in the candlelight carol service and will also sing at a mid-week lunch time concert in the church. There are choir practices, these are usually held fortnightly, although extra rehearsals take place when there is work to be done, and less frequently over the summer when it's holiday time. David Hall is the church organist and also the choirmaster. Under his leadership choir practices are fun and productive, they don't go on too late and often are gently therapeutic after a hard day's work! There's even a Christmas party...with food (that always goes down well at Longcauseway).
If you would like to be part of the choir why not give it a go? The best part
about being in a choir is being part of a team working together. Don't be
concerned if you have no previous experience, there are people in the choir who will be able to help you. Don't worry if you can't read music, it is not an
essential pre-requisite, and you won't be asked to sing by yourself. The most
important requirement is enthusiasm and commitment. Young and less young(!), please think about it. You are more than welcome to come to a choir practice to give it a go.
