I am thinking of Christmas, Holidays and a bright New Year.
2015 has been a very busy year. All the churches in SPACE have been very busy with all kinds of activities – Coffee Mornings, Lunches, and Fund Raisers of all sorts. We have been gathering in Friendship and Fellowship across the area.
Preparations are being made for all our Christmas events. Carols will be sung with gusto and meals eaten eagerly. Cards will be written and delivered – Presents wrapped and distributed.
These things take time and effort, but please do not be too tired to celebrate with enthusiasm the “Birth of Christ”. Surely that is what it is about – Mary and Joseph travelling to Bethlehem and Jesus being born in a stable. They had many visitors – the shepherds with their lambs – Wise men with their presents.
Let us not forget to give thanks to God for the birth of His Son and the many gifts he has given to us.
After a few days rest and recuperation it is New Year’s Day, 2016. What will it bring for us?? New Year resolutions which last for a few days? Let’s try to make them more meaningful.
Let’s look at life and activities in our churches and ask God to help us review what we are doing and, if necessary take us along another road – help us to improve our worship of Him and take His Word into our local communities.
A serious thought for all of us to think about. Remember to celebrate well together over the Christmas period and be ready for a fulfilling 2016.
Yours in Christ
