Selecting a favourite passage was relatively easy;
writing about it was not.
Psalm 121 is my choice because it was one I learnt by heart in Sunday School a long, long time ago. I do not remember the words of the whole psalm now but the first two verses have stayed with me. The whole psalm promises that God is always there with you, in every situation, whatever happens.
Life, as you all know is an emotional roller coaster; highs of great joy, lows of utter despair and everything in between. When these events occur we all have different ways of coping. I find myself repeating these words and the knowledge that I do not have to face them alone, always calms me and helps me find an answer or solution.
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.
I have views of the hills from my kitchen window, but when the days are dark and the valley fills with mist, although they are hidden from view, I know they are still there, as is God’s presence and love.
