BISHOP TONY (CHAIR OF KIRKLEES FAITHS FORUM) AND LAY CANON YAQUB MASIH LAUNCH INTERFAITH WATER PROJECT TO PROMOTE RELIGIOUS TOLERANCE

Last week the Bishop of Pontefract and Lay Canon Yaqub Masih visited Gojra in Pakistan to lay foundation stones for an interfaith clean water project.  Regular updates have been coming back from Pakistan during the week and you can read Bishop Tony’s diary and see some pictures on the Diocesan website.  As well as laying the foundation stones for the water project, Bishop Tony met Christian leaders of different denominations, broadcast on TV, met the Governor of the Punjab, Health and Housing Ministers, The President of Pakistan and preached to over 12, 000 people at one church gathering.  He also met with the Grand Imam of the second largest mosque in Pakistan.  Bishop Tony’s diary is a unique opportunity to see and hear news of Pakistan from a different perspective.
