Some of you will already know as I mentioned in Church last week that Vivienne Hemingway, who has a strong link with Nepal would like to share her experiences in this interesting, multi ethnic, multilingual and multi-religious country with us and raise funds to help with the Earthquake disaster.
on June 17th at 7.30 in the Hall at Longcauseway Church we will be treated to ….
’Nepal in a Nutshell - the Country and it’s People and Culture’.
Vivienne first visited Nepal in 2005 on a touring holiday, she returned to teach English voluntarily in a Higher Secondary School for 3 months in 2006 and 2007, she then helped raise funds to build a larger school and returned to teach again in 2009 and though hasn’t been to teach since then she has managed shorter visits to meet up with the many Nepalis friends she has made, who luckily have all survived this terrible catastrophe.
As this is a fundraiser (donations on the night) it will be an open meeting, so please bring along your spouse, family and friends to what I am sure will be an interesting evening. Really the more the merrier!
I do hope that no one minds the change of plans (we had talked of having a walk that night) but having a member of our group willing to share her experiences with us whilst at the same time we raise some much needed funds seemed too good an opportunity to miss!
