On Friday March 20th we had our first ever Pilot Sleepover at Longcauseway Church. 9 Pilots, 4 Adults and William met at Church at 6pm with Sleeping Bags, Nightwear and Toiletries.
Once everyone had picked a sleeping spot in the large meeting room we prepared our own Pizzas. We had plain pizza bases to which was added a tomato sauce then Pilots were able to choose from a variety of toppings, Pepperoni, Ham, Peppers, Sweetcorn etc. and topped off with cheese. Whilst the Pizzas were cooking we played games in the Hall.
Once the Pizzas were ready, we ate, cleared up and played more games until everyone was ready to settle down with popcorn and a movie. A film was selected, ‘Brave’, the lights were dimmed and silence followed.
After that it was time to clean teeth and settle down to sleep which the Pilots did pretty quickly. The adults had a cup of tea and a game of cards in the small meeting room, having first tried our hands at getting a slice of cucumber from our forehead to our mouth without handling it. A game which is more fun than the picture below suggests!
After a reasonable nights sleep we were all awake by 7.30 which gave us time to have breakfast, clear away, pack up our beds and play a game of Ibble Dibble (they’d learnt how to play this the evening before and it was a firm favourite) Parents arrived between 9 and 9.30am. A good time was had by all, though one or two of us found we needed a nap later on the Saturday! I hope this will become an annual event.
Thank you Leadership for allowing us to use the Church premises.
