Remember, Remember the 5th of November, gunpowder, treason and plot? As I write these thoughts Bonfire night is very near once again with Remembrance Sunday shortly following. I reflect too on the sad passing of Brian Taylor – a real stalwart of Churches Together and for the community of Dewsbury in general.
Yet I wonder just who and what we remember – will Brian be remember in a year or two’s time, or will his memory like that of Mr Fawkes continue on for centuries? Have we loved ones who sadly were killed in the 1st or 2nd World War or in more recent times as we strife still for peace?
At the Last Supper (now our Communion Service) the Lord Jesus instructed us to `do this in remembrance of me – until I come again.’
How often do we really reflect on what the Lord Jesus has done for us, giving His life for us? He died so that we might live! BUT REMEMBER HE’S ALIVE! He Rose from the dead and He’s ALIVE!
When you next take Communion remember all that He’s done for you and be THANKFUL, but remember that one day He will come again – and that’s a PROMISE!
