The New Year- a time of new beginnings, a time to start again, or "turn over a new leaf" as the expression goes. A time to reflect on what has been and what could be. A time to examine the kind of people we are. Do we live for ourselves and for the present or do we reach out to help others? Do we work hard in order to get bigger and better things or should there come a point when we're satisfied with what we have and place more importance on people- family, friends, neighbours- rather than on material things?
Many search for happiness in the wrong places, never finding the contentment they need. Knowing the Lord Jesus as your saviour will give you that deep-seated contentedness, and with it a thankfulness never experienced before.
God sent his son so that we may know such peace, such fulfilment. And Jesus sacrificed his life for us, so that we could have a personal relationship with God. Start this new year with one resolve- to get to know God better by believing in his son Jesus. That will truly be a new beginning.
