As I write these few thoughts the draw for the 4th round of the Rugby League Challenge Cup has just taken place – Dewsbury are drawn at home to play the current cup holders and arguably one of the finest clubs in Rugby League today.

My thoughts went immediately to the account in the bible of the fight between David and Goliath. Goliath – a massive giant of a man, in rugby terms not dissimilar to Erol Crabtree against David a small shepherd boy, completely inexperienced in battle.

A lot of the old, pessimistic supporters at Dewsbury will be saying – uugh we don’t stand a chance – we’ll get absolutely stuffed! Whereas, perhaps the head coach and players at Dewsbury feel very much differently and have faith in themselves and their ability and I’m certain will give their absolute all.

David had complete and utter faith in His God that He would give him the victory and He did! – Confidence breeds confidence. Throughout the bible we read of many conflicts but the fact is that God has won the ultimate VICTORY.  When you’re facing giants put your trust in God.
