I was agreeing with someone last week that it is always easier to complain on someone else’s behalf or stand up for someone else’s cause. As a head teacher of a First School I was strong in demanding the service my pupils deserved, but when it came to claiming that service in my own home it was much more difficult. But we all need someone to stand up for us on occasions.
The great news is that when we commit our way to the Lord and trust in him, he will do this; He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun (Psalm 37:5-6 NIV). When we have one of those glorious sunny days here in England, we can appreciate the strength of God backing up our cause like the noonday sun.
Perhaps even more importantly, if we have accepted Jesus and the sacrifice he made for us on the cross to restore us to a relationship with God, we can know that God is for us. No matter who brings a charge against us, or what trouble or hardship we go through, we cannot be separated from the love of God (Romans 8:31-39 NIV).
