Where did 2013 go, or January 2014? Please tell me it’s not because I’m getting older, but time just seems to fly by! I remember, when I was a little girl, hearing “old people” saying that life goes by faster as you age. I thought it was ridiculous, now I’m not so sure!
I wonder how God sees the passage of time. Psalm 90, verse 4, tells us that a thousand years in God’s sight are like a day- that’s fast! But we also know that each moment is precious to God. God is a God of the here and now. When Moses asked God to tell him his name God replies “My name is I AM”. Not “I was, or I will be, but I AM”.
We spend a lot of time looking back to the past, sometimes with regret, sometimes with longing for things to be as we think they were. We spend a lot of time looking to the future with excitement or dread. God was with us in the past. He holds the future securely in his hands. And he is here in this moment. Be still and know that God is here for you now.
