Two weeks ago I had friends staying from Maryland, USA. On one day of their visit we went to York. Obviously we visited the Minster and we climbed up the tower to see the lovely views of the Vale of York. After that we decided to go into a pub for a drink and a sandwich. Since none of us knew which pub to choose we went into the first one we saw. As we chatted Larry’s sister asked him if he ever heard from Daria, his former next-door neighbour. He said that she had been left about three years and they telephoned occasionally. Then Larry went to the bar in the next room he was gone a little while but then returned with Daria, his ex-neighbour from America! She was visiting her mother in London and they had come to York for the day and chosen that same pub for lunch. Amazing!
That got me thinking about coincidences. Had we walked a bit further, or not had another drink Larry and Daria would never have known that they were just within yards of each other. Seeming coincidences like that happen so often. But are they coincidences or God’s Providence?
