Christ the Light of the World.
We are almost at the end of another year and of course December is the darkest month of the year. How cheering it is to see, from the beginning of December the lighting up of homes and gardens as folks prepare for Christmas celebrations. Of course traditionally twelve days after Christmas the lights are taken down and stored away for another year. Christmas really is meant to be all about Jesus, who declared Himself to be the Light of the World and “he that follows after Me shall not walk in darkness.” (John, chapter 8, v12). Later on Jesus declares “as long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” (John, chapter 9, v5). The very next thing that Jesus did, after making this statement, was to open the eyes of a man who had been born blind. Jesus asked the man “Do you believe in the Son of God?” The man answered, “Lord, I believe!” and he worshipped Him. The True Light had dealt not only with his physical darkness but with the spiritual darkness too. Receive the greatest gift of all this Christmas time and you will not walk in darkness.
