Think Christ

There have been men before ... who got so interested in proving the existence of God that they came to care nothing for God himself ... as if the good Lord had nothing to do but to exist. There have been some who were so preoccupied with spreading Christianity that they never gave a thought to Christ.

C. S. LEWIS, The Great Divorce

At Christmas, this very busy time for the church, we often times get preoccupied with doing the things of Christmas, and being the church. We are busy preparing for the Christingle or organising the fair, choosing the carols and hanging the tinsel. We can get so taken up with distributing cards and speaking about peace on earth and goodwill, that we forget why we are doing it. We ourselves can forget to be peacemakers, we can forget our righteousness and goodwill.

In our business this Christmas, let’s think first about Christ. Let us do the work of Christ. If we are preparing for a service, organising the fair or hanging tinsel, let us do it for Christ. Let us carryon his work because that is what we are about.

Let us do it to Glorify God. Think Christ.
