Reflection for the week - 1st August 2016
This week I came across Hebrews 4:7. The writer is encouraging people to remain firm in their faith, through all the challenges of life. He reminds them of God’s rest on the seventh day and the promise of eternal rest for those who put their trust in him.
Therefore, God again set aside a certain day, calling it Today, …Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts”
It reminded me that every day- especially Today- is a day to meet with God.
Someone wisely said, “God is eternally present, we are seldom at home to receive him.” God has set aside Today, for us to receive him and be present to him.
He was there yesterday and promises to be there tomorrow, but Today, this very day, he invites us to come to him and be in his presence.
The events of the day, the jobs that have to be done, the people we have to care for, the distractions that seem so important: “I’ll just do this and then…” can so easily meant the day goes by and we haven’t spent time with God.
Can I challenge you, in all the Todays of this week, to meet with God, listen to his voice and draw closer to him.
