Dear friends,

Please find attached a copy of "Unity Post", news from West Yorkshire churches in advance of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. (Some paper copies are in the post to Churches Together groups.) Please distribute Unity Post around your own networks. Thank you.

Also, there is an attached flyer for an important event being organised by West Yorkshire Ecumenical Council on Ash Wednesday, 18 February. There seems to be an atmosphere of narrow intolerance in society towards people of various nationalities and cultures, especially in the run-up to the general election. In contrast, West Yorkshire Church Leaders will come together in Leeds city centre to lead a united open-air procession of Christian witness to celebrate the diversity of our churches, cities and region. A flyer is attached. Please promote this event in your own networks and encourage anyone who is available to come and join in this colourful and important procession. Bring your church banners, flags, crosses...

I hope your own events to mark the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity go well. Please let me know what you do - for inclusion in the next (digital) Unity Post in Spring.

I look forward to seeing you in Leeds on 18 February.

In peace,

The Revd. Dr. Clive Barrett,
County Ecumenical Development Officer and Executive Secretary,
